A woman has escaped from a mental asylum and is wandering through a forest. She escaped by cutting the straps that tied her down.
After this, the detective in the story is searching for clues of her whereabouts in the forest.
The detective tracks down the woman with evidence from the clues and sees her murder an innocent small girl who she had kidnapped.
After the detective had caught the woman she tried to explain why she did it by saying that her daughter was murdered and she was framed for it. She also said that she lost her sanity whilst being locked in a mental asylum so that's why she killed the child.
When the detective is taking her away she breaks free and jumps of the bridge that she is on and commits suicide.
